Today I am finishing my last paper for this semester.
Actually, for this whole school year.
Er, no, for this entire school experience.
I have one last paragraph to type (ugh).
One last final to take tomorrow (unless I take my Spanish final and try to bump my grade up to a less-failing one).
And tonight was the last night of regular Wednesday nights for Junior and Senior High.
That meant the last Junior High lesson (which I will get into in a minute).
It also meant the last time we got to sing together as a group.
Probably the last time I got to run screen for a Wednesday session.
It makes me so. sad.
It was pointed out to me tonight by a fellow leader when she came up to check out the sound room and asked how many songs were left for the night.
When I say “last regular Wednesday night for JH & SH,” I don’t mean that lessons are ending. I just mean that JH is going to meet on Tuesdays this summer, and SH on Wednesdays.
And I guess I mean it’s my last regular Wednesday night with them.
Next week is still a fun night, but it’s Senior Recognition Night. It’s a fun night, not necessarily a lesson night.
I mean, there will be lessons, but it’s mostly for fun and to recognize the seniors (obv).
Now, on to tonight’s lesson.
We went through the entire New Testament.
In 30 minutes.
Momma S was impressed. 🙂
We talked about the Gospels, Saul/Paul, Stephen, the Disciples… But YP pointed out that the entire NT boils down to this one fact:
He asked several questions, including ones like,
- Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in?
- What are your hopes based/founded on?
- Have you ever thought that God couldn’t use you because you’re a sinner, dirty?
The entire night led up to the fact that in Christ, we are a family. We don’t have to worry about not fitting in.
It reminds me of a comment made on Sunday morning: Weird is accepted here. In fact, it’s encouraged!
Or something like that. (“Here” being our church/youth group.)
My hand shot up when YP asked about not fitting in.
He gave us sheets to take home that have NT verses dealing with HOPE, JOY, LOVE, and PEACE.
– If you have thoughts about HOPE and what it means for you, if your HOPE is built on something other than Christ:
Romans 5:2-5, 8:24-25, 15:12-13 ;; 1 Cor 13:13, 15:19 ;; 2 Cor 1:7, 3:12 ;; Col 1:23-27 ;; 1 Tim 4:10 ;; Titus 2:11-14 ;; Heb 10:23
– Where is my JOY? Are you lacking it? Do you need to be filled?:
John 3:29, 15:11, 17:13 ;; Acts 13:52 ;; Gal 5:22 ;; 1 Thess 1:6 ;; Romans 14:17, 15:13 ;; John 16:20-22 ;; Phil 1:25, 2:2 ;; Luke 6:13 ;; Heb 12:2 ;; James 1:2-4
– I don’t get LOVE, I make wrong choices in relationships and I want to understand what it really means to LOVE God and others:
1 John 4:7-8, 5:3 ;; 1 Cor 13:1-3 ;; 1 John 4:16 ;; Rom 13:9-10 ;; John 3:16 ;; Matt 7:1-7 ;; Gal 5:22-23 ;; Rom 5:8 ;; John 14:15
– I don’t have PEACE about anything… I worry too much; help!:
Matt 10:34 ;; Mark 9:50 ;; John 14:27 ;; Rom 5:1, 8:6, 14:17, 14:19 ;; Gal 5:22-23 ;; Eph 6:14-25 ;; Phil 4:7-9 ;; 2 Thess 1:2 (was 2:22 on the sheet, but that doesn’t exist), 3:16 ;; 2 Tim 2:22 ;; Heb 12:11-14 ;; James 3:17-18
