I decided that since I only have part of four Biblical books (okay, all of one) to read for Tuesday, I would read Isaiah 1-3 & 6 and Jeremiah 1 & 2 today–er, yesterday, considering it’s Saturday by now.

Tomorrow Today (hopefully) will be Dan chapters 1 through 3, Sunday should be all of Micah, and Monday will be the chapter in the boring book.

So Isaiah and Jeremiah. Six chapters total. It would’ve been more, but our prof announced in class yesterday that she was reducing some of our reading for the next couple of weeks, which was very nice of her.

A couple of the verses that I already had marked in Isaiah were 11 & 17. I didn’t have anything marked in chapters 2 or 3.

In Jeremiah, of course, I have chapter 29:11 marked, but that’s not part of the reading. The only thing in chapters 1 and 2 of Jeremiah that I have marked is 1:5.

What I’m finding interesting now are these:

Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!
For the LORD has spoken:
“I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knows its master,
the donkey its owner’s manger,
but Israel does not know,
   my people do not understand.”

5 Why should you be beaten anymore?
Why do you persist in rebellion?
Your whole head is injured,
   your whole heart afflicted.

18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
   they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
   they shall be like wool.”

Sin had left a crimson stain; You washed me white as snow.

I cry every time we sing this in chapel… And then it’s followed up with

Oh praise the One who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead!

Chapter 2

22 Stop trusting in mere humans,
who have but a breath in their nostrils.
   Why hold them in esteem?

Chapter 6

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

There’s a song probably based on this verse…

Jeremiah 1

6 “Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

Remind you of anything?

So the reason I didn’t post this earlier was mainly because I was at the church event that I was filming for my project. I got a lot of footage, including about three minutes of around 12 teenage boys dancing to this song.

Plus I got nearly ten minutes of Ultimate, around a minute of one of my friends telling why she likes these events, more dancing, Four Square, introducing a game, kids trying to get out of “jail” during said game, and kids eating and playing games. Tomorrow I might get some footage of the church parking lot and stuff, just to show the difference in number of vehicles in the lot during the day and during football games; and also to show why we have these events at our church. We’re right across the street from the field, which is cool.

If I get around 10 minutes of the pastor telling me about these events on Sunday, I should have enough audio. I might find a song to play behind some of the clips, if I can think of a good community- or outreach-themed song. If any of you know any songs about reaching out that are sort of upbeat, that might be helpful…

I can kind of see how I want the video to go in my head; it’s just a matter of editing it all together, which I can probably do on Monday after chapel. At least start on it while a TA is there to help.

This is fun! I’ll have to see how editing goes, but so far I like this project. It helps that I’m filming something I’m kind of interested in… 🙂

Oh, and tonight when I went to the football game to film some of it, I started chatting with a woman from another church about my project and school and things like that. I still find it amazing that I’m capable of striking up conversations with people I don’t know here, and yet I can’t (or won’t) at school. What is wrong with me?

It’s raining.

It’s 12:45-ish am. I think I need to go to bed.
